Gemini Moon: Fire in the Belly and the Truth Will Out.

Salut, Mes Amis!

How can another month have gone by so quickly? I had planned to write a blog to celebrate the new moon in Sagittarius but one way and another I have simply been too caught up with living to write. You know, when you are a writer it can feel like there is always a deadline, always something you should be writing but you’re not. The reason it feels like that is because it’s true: there is always something new to be written.

But it is also true that sometimes life has to be lived, not observed and processed. In the last month there has been a lot of that for me. I celebrated my birthday, I celebrated the birthdays of friends, I saw some magnificent art works, I learnt how to sing favourite Christmas carols in French and I was challenged daily by a work situation that threatened to boil over – and all that Mars energy in the sky made it tempting to be the one doing the screaming! I didn’t succumb – not easy for a fiery Sag from a family of redheads with stubborn Scottish ancestry! And I know that it was a daily victory for me to ride through that situation, even though, at times, the pressure was intense.

Right now a lot of people have been feeling that pressure. The news on the economy – national and international – is hardly cause for celebration and yet, as Pluto is now firmly in Capricorn for the next fifteen years, in a way it is cause for great rejoicing. All the expansion based on credit that highlighted the era of Pluto in Sagittarius has been exposed for the fraud that it is and now the hard work of restructuring – what Capricorn does best – can begin. And we can be sure that what is built during the next decade and beyond will be strong and ethical – hey, I’ll drink to that!

However, in the short term, the pressure remains for most of us. This week we have a full moon in Gemini happening on Friday. (There is also a mutable grand cross that has the power to transform or diffuse – more below).

Full moon energy, as you know, is always intense but this one is shaping up to be very volatile. Gemini is symbolised by the “twins” of the higher and lower mind. The task of a Gemini is to bring the demands of the lower mind into alignment with the greater good demanded by the higher mind. In so doing, Gemini reminds us that all duality on planet earth – good vs evil, man vs woman, night vs day – is ultimately an illusion as all is Spirit, all is One. Gemini is an air sign and is the ruler of communication. Her message is “I think and speak” while in esoteric astrology her affirmation is: “I recognise my other self and in the waning of that self, I grow and glow”. The “other self” is, of course, the higher self or soul purpose.

During this full moon it is really important that all your communication comes from your higher self, otherwise there is the potential for massive blow-ups. Just this morning the story came through on the news of a fourteen year old boy who shot his friend over the weekend. It seems it was a tragic accident and the mother of the dead boy doesn’t want police to press charges; although at this stage it looks as if they will.

Maybe fourteen year old boys don’t really understand the dangers of playing with firearms but fortunately, most adults do.

What they may not realise is that words can be just as deadly. Remember that children’s rhyme we used to say, “Sticks and stones might break my bones but names will never hurt me”? It is a brave sentiment, usually chanted by children who are actually the victims of bullying, but not true. Most people can, in fact, be very hurt by name calling.

Gemini is an air sign and it is the fire signs – Sagittarius, Aries and Leo – who should use the most care around communications at this time. Why? Because oxygen is essential for fire to spread whereas water and earth have the potential to put out fire.

As I write this, I am very aware of the symbology in my own home. Over a week ago my oven stopped working, it has blown an element. Despite phone calls and emails, no one has come to fix it yet. I’m not surprised. I’m fairly certain it will get fixed on or near the full moon. Then there will be “fire” back in the belly of my home. I see this as a warning to me to ensure that I am in control of how I express myself this week (well, always, of course, but ESPECIALLY this coming week!). Over the years, as many of you who have read my book will know, I have had to learn the difference between passion and anger. I have also learnt that creativity can be a wonderful outlet for a fiery temperament. So can exercise. I’ve learnt to use my passion to create not destroy. Whilst the Bible story of Jesus in the temple illustrates that there is always a place for righteous anger, most often anger and rage are destructive. Now sometimes, the fire must burn before rebuilding can begin but personally I would rather use my communication skills to build relationships and solutions, rather than create havoc and destruction.

Terrorism is rage unleashed. Very often it comes from a victim complex lashing out at what is perceived to be an unloving world. It is often extremely misogynistic in that expression. The recent attacks on Mumbai feel like that to me; sneaky and underhanded violence against Mother India that sought to sully her beauty, destroy her confidence and desecrate her heart.

It is no accident that the attacks occurred on the last day of Pluto in Sagittarius. Religious extremism and fanatical devotion to a cause have been features of Pluto’s reign in my sun sign. Sag is the visionary and the religious devotee. She is also the hedonist who can take all things to extremes given the opportunity. In the last twelve years it seems that everyone on the planet has been searching for spiritual answers and this has given rise to fanatics, convinced that only their way is “right”. Hopefully Pluto’s arrival in Capricorn will see the demise of this fanatical behaviour and that fervour – Christian, Moslem, whatever, can be channelled into cooperation for the good of the whole.

I pray that there won’t be more terrorism this full moon. Fortunately, it doesn’t feel like that. This full moon feels more like a call to tell the truth, your highest truth, regardless of the consequences. Whilst that might mean some blood gets spilt, truth can be told without anger being present. In fact, when the truth is uttered devoid of the provocation of anger, then it can more readily find a home in the heart of another. It is really hard to avoid the resonance of truth when it is spoken with conviction and almost impossible then for another to deny it.

A few days ago I was with a group of people, including a married couple that I have come to know quite well. They have been married for a long time and the woman has confided in me that she is very unhappy. That news didn’t come as any surprise. I have watched this couple together and listened to how they speak to each other. Forget love, I would say that there is actually very little respect between them. When she speaks to him there is that rub of the familiar. A look of irritation, a cutting response; her anger is plain for all to see. What is her anger really? I would say she is angry with herself for creating this life with this man and then for staying long past the relationship’s used by date. She would say, no doubt, that she is angry with him or angry with God or whoever created this reality for her. I say that we all make our choices every day in big ways and small. Presumably no one forces this woman to stay; she chooses it. Of course, I know that the decision to leave is a difficult one. I know because it is one I have made and the making of that decision took me a long time. But ultimately, when I stoped being a victim and a martyr, it was an easy decision to make because it was a simple choice between my happiness or unhappiness.

This full moon, if you find yourself with something really important to say, then be clear that your intention to speak comes from your higher mind and higher truth. If you find yourself consumed with anger at the thought of what the other person has “done” to you, then I suggest postponing the conversation until you can detach your emotions from the message.

Don’t lose the fire in your belly, but don’t be tempted to squander it either on some momentary burst of anger that might destroy that which is precious along with the dross. Save that passion for something entirely more memorable, like some beautiful lovemaking or the fashioning of a beautiful piece of art.

Remember also that honesty doesn’t mean blurting out insults about others. In its highest form, honesty means staying true to your own heart-felt truth – what is commonly called integrity. When you speak with integrity, and are prepared to be fully responsible for your own truth, then the highest good can result.

Two people I know are facing legal proceedings this week. In both cases these situations are the final act in a long-drawn out process over many years. One of the two is prepared to take responsiblity for his actions and face the consequences, the other is not. I think the outcome will be more severe for him because this astrological energy supports telling the truth. It is interesting that OJ Simpson has just got sentenced to fifteen years in prison after years of avoiding the consequences of his actions. Universal energy is supporting justice right now and if we are not prepared to be honest and authentic we might find ourselves being pushed!

Please take that energy of authenticity into your Christmas celebrations. So much of what happens over this festive time in the name of family togetherness and celebration is actually about conforming to some Disney concept of excessive consumption and saccharine sweet sentiments that few of us can relate to. This Christmas try celebrating in a way that pleases you, with the people you love and in ways that have personal meaning and power. Maybe you can reach out a helping hand to someone in your neighbourhood who is sad or alone this year? Whatever you do and however you celebrate, be very wary of doing anything simply because “after all, it’s Christmas” and you “should”.

Astrological forces coming our way:

Please note: Star Struck is not a full astrological report, it is merely a summary of astrological energies that relate to the blog and to what we might be feeling and experiencing right now.

Jupiter and Venus

Did you have the opportunity to see Venus and Jupiter shining brightly beside the new moon earlier in the month? They looked absolutely magnificent and were a timely reminder that we must always create our world from a place of hope and possibility rather than from fear.

Full Moon in Gemini December 12th

Happy full moon in Gemini!

Speak your truth but do it dispassionately and with absolute integrity. Celebrate the power of honest communication that comes from the heart and the higher mind and use your words wisely and with discretion.

Let’s change our original mantra slightly so that it reads:

“I think AND THEN, I speak”!

Grand Mutable Cross

Mercury in Sagittarius squares Uranus in Pisces on December 4, the Sun squares Uranus on December 10 and Mars squares Uranus on December 11.

This energy, coming as it does with the full moon, suggests that real transformation is happening and we can literally feel these changes. I’ve read quite a bit about what all of this might mean and the opinions vary. Let’s hope that Gemini, which is able to keep it light and see many truths, will help diffuse any fireworks. The undeniable truth is that we live in a world that is always mutable, always recreating, always in flux. Individually and collectively we must learn that our stability comes from within, not from institutions, governments or religions.

New Moon in Capricorn December 27

We end the year with a new moon and new hope. Restructuring based on truth and integrity is the promise we make to ourselves and our planet as we head into 2009.

In the immortal words of John Lennon, “Let it be, let it be …”

In love,

Joy.
