"What's in a name?
That by which we call a rose
By any other word
Would smell as sweet."
William Shakespeare, Romeo and Juliet

Do you agree with the sentiment expressed in Romeo and Juliet? Would a rose smell just as sweet to you if it was called a "cabbage" or "skunk" or "slime"?
Names all have their own
resonance or
vibration, and some sound good to us and others don't. Apart from how they sound, as we get older we may associate certain names with the people by that name that we have met previously. For instance we might have had a nosey neighbour called Beryl and we then become pre-disposed towards thinking all Beryl's are inquisitive. Of course, such was the emnity between the Montagues and Capulet families in
Romeo and Juliet that the mere mention of the enemy's name was dangerous, and the two star-crossed lovers ended up dead because of the family feud.
Not a very Happy Ever After!
And what if you have a name that you don't like? What impact does that have on your fulfilment in life? How does it influence your behaviour or your feelings about yourself? Are you are at war with yourself because your name doesn't reflect who you really are or how you want to be identified in the world? If your parents call you Ernest but you're really a Fernando, do you act like an Ernest or do you become Fernando?
In her book,
'So Where's My happy Ever After?',
Joy changes her name as a statement to the world that from now on she chooses to live her life
joyfully. Of course, you might already like your name, but do you know what it
means? And if you are playing with the idea of a
name/life change, perhaps you're
looking for inspiration? Why not play with our Name Toy and find out?
